The filming of Star Wars: Episode IX is well underway and we've been looking at photos taken at the location shooting. What do these images tell us about JJ Abrams conclusion to the sequel trilogy? It's been an exciting week for casting news too, with Matt Smith and Dominic Monaghan joining the likes of Richard E Grant and Naomi Ackie in the new movie and we're speculating about the nature of their roles. John's got even more beef with the prequels and Jude nearly dies laughing at his argument against the Battledroids, plus what's the deal with Kylo Ren's helmet? Is there more than one? If not, then how did he even rescue it from Starkiller base? And is John losing his love for the sequels? All this and more in the latest episode of Blah Wars.
Lots to go through on the show this week. First up, we've launched our patreon page (www.patreon.com/blahwars) for those that want to support the show in exchange for bonus Blah Wars content you won't be able to hear anywhere else. John's injured his leg in a bizzare incident involving a caravan tyre which you can hear all about on this week's show, as well as the hot tub story. We discuss the first trailer for the new animated series Star Wars Resistance and read out your thoughts on it. Jude has a rant about Midichlorians and Thunderbirds and John's spotted a glaring error in The Last Jedi.
This episode was record on the road, on our way to make Blah Wars #51. In this discussion, we address problems with The Last Jedi and Solo, before moving onto ideas for our own stand alone movies and to finish off, a bit of karaoke!
On this week's show, we talk about the original vlogger, Weird Paul Petrosky and play some of his lo-fi tunes, including the insanely catchy "Please don't break my Atari", "Used to Bullseye Womp Rats". Check out his youtube channel for amazing videos of his collections, he's also on instagram. In the face of a Star Wars news droubt, we also discuss the original Rogue One ending, talk Star Wars Rebels, the Star Wars space jazz known as Jizz and Star Wars porn parodies. Tell your sister, but don't tell Johnny, yeah?
In this 90 minute special episode John and Jude pay a visit to Jude's childhood home in Rochester and the nearby Medway town of Chatham. Incidentally, John's grandparents lived in the nearby Gillingham, so its a nostaligic trip down memory lane for the both of them. On the way there we share some medway memories and once we get to Jude's house, we uncover his childhood collection of star wars toys and memorabilia. We also sit down for a chat with Jude's father Jon and learn a bit more about Jude's fascination with Star Wars, quirky characters and would you believe it, the Titanic. Before heading home, we stop by Chatham for a visit to D&A Toys in the Pentagon centre; a shop that's been in business since 1976. The manager Lee welcomed us into his office and we looked through classic photos of the shop from its 42 year history. Sadly, our conversation with Lee wasn't recorded properly, but we are able to give you the lowdown on what we discussed.
We have a packed show for you this week, first up we discuss the huge annoucement regarding the casting for Star Wars Episode 9 and what this means for the plot of the movie. Richard E Grant? John is thrilled. Then we join John and Raj live from a London cementary, to reflect on London Film and Comic Con 2018. Next week we're hitting the road, heading down to the Medway and finally unearthing the treasures in Jude's parent's attic and paying our favourite childhood toyshop an overdue visit.
It's been a few weeks since we brought you a show, in fact many of you got in touch to ask if we'd stopped making the show! But don't worry, we're back with a bang. We talk about our own Blah Wars World Cup which went down well on Instagram, find out how it all went on this week's jam-packed show! Also on the show this week... Alan Yentob, Doc Martin, Football, a round up of Star Wars news, Jude's rude awakening, production company ident and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves toys!
YouTube is awash with furious vloggers claiming that Kathleen Kennedy is single-handedly destroying the Star Wars franchise. John and Jude read out your feelings on the matter and discuss online abuse and diversity in the Star Wars franchise. Bit of a political one this week, with next to no laughs. Family fun. Contains strong language.
We asked our listeners for their thoughts and feelings on Solo: A Star Wars Story and we received dozens of responses. On the show this week John and Jude read and respond to as many as they can. Thanks very much to everyone who got in touch!
